INSPO: On a bitter winter’s day she wanders, lost among the ghostly birch forest. Each breath exhaled leaving a cloud of frost. Tired, she sinks to her knees beneath a sheltering spruce, boughs heavy with snow. An owl’s low hoot stirs her awake. Night has fallen. Snow glows silver beneath the moon. The air bites her skin, but a strange warmth begins to shelter her. Tiny lights flicker through the air like embers of a fire. She stands, drawn toward the glow. Ahead, a lantern sways gently from a birch branch, golden flame flickering . The owl watches from above, then glides to a nearer branch; beckoning her onward through the veil of snow and spirit.
